Cricket in the United States has taken massive strides in growing its global awareness after a recent trip to Dhaka, Bangladesh. Atlanta Fire owner Hasan Tarek recently traveled to the sub-continent (as a representative for USA Cricket) intending to build a relationship with the test-playing nation and its administration.

The Fire who competed in the USA’s inaugural Minor League Championships has taken a heavy interest in USA Cricket through its owner Tarek with the introduction of his tournament, the Atlanta Open which took place in November and saw hundreds of players across the country compete.

“I took them (Bangladesh Cricket Board) some proposals from USA Cricket as we want to build the relationship. We want to have shared tournaments and logistics,” he expressed in an interview earlier this week. “I shared industry practices and our MiLC goals and agenda with the Bangladesh Cricket Board. And they welcomed the idea of hosting shared tournaments. Overall, it was a fruitful conversation.”

He also touched on some of the developments that he would have worked on from his time in Asia which included future series, Under-19 series as well as the exchange of players between the two countries. “We want to invite the Bangladesh national team to play on US soil and take the USA Under-19 team to Bangladesh to play a few games. We discussed player availability with our major league players from the USA to play in the BPL and their players also (to play) in the Minor League,” Tarek stated.

With a hectic calendar for both the USA and Bangladesh, major discussions took place for the year 2023 and moving forward where further developments are expected to take place, “The Bangladesh men’s senior team have a pretty tight schedule for 2022 but they did commit to playing a few warm-up games before the World Cup which we are going to be hosting in 2024. We also discussed a second XI team to come in from Bangladesh to come in and play against a USA team and a few of our under-19 players to practice in the academy in Bangladesh. Those are the few things we discussed which will massively help USA Cricket,” he expressed.
